Exposure/Dose Instruments
ERG has an inventory of exposure rate measurement instruments. The Ludlum exposure rate instruments often used for NORM surveys and general exposure rate surveys are hand-held energy-dependent, assuming all measured counts are from a specific energy the instrument is calibrated with, typically Ra-226 or Cs-137. The Bicron/Thermo Micro Rem meter measures tissue-equivilent gamma dose rates. The RS-Detection HPIC is not readily portable and is energy-independent measuring true exposure rate in air.
